Two Women Say Donald Trump Touched Them Inappropriately, http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/13/us/politics/donald-trump-women.html, Oct. 12th 2016

The above link has an around 3 min video where Ms. Jessica Leeds describes Mr. Trump's ALLEGED forcible groping in a flight in the early 1980s when Leeds was 38 (years old). The article text covers it and gives some additional details as related by Leeds. The article quotes Leeds saying, "His hands were everywhere.".. "It was an assault".

It also has description of ALLEGED forcible kissing of a Ms. Crooks in 2005 by Mr. Trump. Crooks was 22 years old then. The article quotes Ms. Crooks saying, "It was so inappropriate".. "I was so upset that he thought I was so insignificant that he could do that."

Neither Leeds nor Crooks complained to the authorities then. Leeds said that the culture then (in the early 1980s) was that women were taught that it was their fault (that such things, forcible groping in her case, happened). Crooks felt that she was not in a position to do anything about it as she was a secretary (first job) and the person ALLEGED to have forcibly kissed her was Donald Trump (big man).

The article states that Mr. Trump shouted at the New York Times reporter who asked him about these allegations, denying the allegations. Trump is also reported as telling the reporter that he/she was a "disgusting human being".

Trump's lawyers have refuted the allegations and demanded a retraction and apology from the New York Times for the above article, failing which they have indicated that they would take legal action (but have not specified exactly what legal action they might take). See https://assets.donaldjtrump.com/DemandForRetraction.PDF, dated October 12th 2016. The letter to the Executive Editor of The New York Times states, "Your article is reckless, defamatory and constitutes libel per se. It is apparent from, among other things, the timing of the article, that it is nothing more than a politically-motivated effort to defeat Mr. Trump's candidacy."

Trump tweeted, "The phony story in the failing @nytimes is a TOTAL FABRICATION. Written by same people as last discredited story on women. WATCH!", https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/786560925113266176, 13th Oct. 2016.

Physically Attacked by Donald Trump – a PEOPLE Writer’s Own Harrowing Story,
http://people.com/politics/donald-trump-attacked-people-writer/, dated Oct. 12th 2016 is an article by Ms. Natasha Stoynoff. Stoynoff claims that in December 2005 she visited Mr. and Mrs. Trump for an interview, and in the course of her visit to the Trumps' estate in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump "was pushing me against the wall and forcing his tongue down my throat" without her consent.

Stoynoff writes that immediately after the ALLEGED incident she felt utterly violated and that her self-esteem was gone. But she felt she had a job to do and so continued the interview. After getting back to her magazine office in Manhattan, New York city, she writes that she felt ashamed and blamed herself for the incident. She was also afraid that if she did not write and publish the interview-article, Trump being a famous and powerful person could destroy her (career). So she wrote and published the article without mentioning the ALLEGED incident.

Mr. Trump denies the allegation made by Stoynoff. Trump tweeted, "Why didn't the writer of the twelve year old article in People Magazine mention the "incident" in her story. Because it did not happen!", https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/786554517680693248, 13th Oct. 2016

Watch: Trump responds to new harassment allegations, attacks Clinton, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0OXiLA1r30, 48 min 19 secs, published on Oct. 13th 2016 by PBS NewsHour.

Short transcript-extracts from it:

These vicious claims about me, of inappropriate conduct with women, are totally and absolutely false. And the Clintons know it. They know it very well. These claims are all fabricated. They're pure fiction and they're outright lies. These events never, ever happened, and the people that said them meekly fully understand — you take a look at these people, you study these people, and you'll understand also. The claims are preposterous, ludicrous, and defy truth, common sense and logic. We already have substantial evidence to dispute these lies and (it) will be made public in an appropriate way and at an appropriate time very soon. These lies come from outlets whose past stories and past claims have already been discredited. The media outlets did not even attempt to confirm the most basic facts, because even a simple investigation would've shown that these were nothing more than false smears.
....
Now today the same two discredited writers [Ravi:of the New York Times] who should have been fired from the New York Times for what they did, tell another totally fabricated and false story that supposedly took place on an aeroplane more than thirty years ago. Another ridiculous xx?xx - no witnesses, no nothing.

Then there was a writer from People magazine who wrote a story on Melania and myself, on our first anniversary. The story was beautiful .. was beautiful. It was lovely. But last night we hear, that after 12 years xx??xx a new claim that I made inappropriate advances during the interview for this (writer). And I ask a very simple question. Why wasn't it part of the story that appeared 12 years ago? Why wasn't it part of the story? Why didn't they make it part of the story? I was one of the biggest stars on television with The Apprentice and it would have been one of the biggest stories of the year. Think of it. She is doing this story on Melania who was pregnant at the time. And Donald Trump .. one year ... And she said, I made inappropriate advances! And, by the way, the area was a public .. people all over the place. ... You take a look. Look at her. Look at her words. You tell me what you think. I don't think so.
...
These people are horrible, horrible liars. And interestingly it happens to appear 26 days before a very important election.
...
I will not lie to you. These false attacks are absolutely hurtful. To be lied about, to be slandered, to be smeared so publicly and before a family that you love is very painful. What is going on is egregious beyond any words. People that know the story, people that see the story, people that know the facts, they can't even believe it. It's reprehensible beyond description. It's totally corrupt. But I also know it's not about me, it's about all of you and it's about our country. I know that, I fully understand, it's why I got involved. It's about all of us together as a country.

The New York Times’s Lawyer Responds to Donald Trump, http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/10/13/us/politics/david-mccraw-trump-letter.html, Oct. 13th 2016. This letter clearly shows that the New York Times considers that it is well within USA law and within ethical standards of reporting to have published the article Mr. Trump's lawyers termed as defamatory and "libel per se". Very importantly, The New York Times said that they welcomed the opportunity to have the matter taken up in a court (where they say that the court will set Mr. Trump straight).

An extract from this letter (original letter pdf link: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3141719/Response.pdf)

But there is a larger and much more important point here. The women quoted in our story spoke out on an issue of national importance - indeed, an issue that Mr. Trump himself discussed with the whole nation watching during Sunday night's presidential debate. Our reporters diligently worked to confirm the women's accounts. They provided readers with Mr. Trump's response, including his forceful denial of the women's reports. It would have been a disservice not just to our readers but to democracy itself to silence their voices. We did what the law allows: We published newsworthy information about a subject of deep public concern. If Mr. Trump disagrees, if he believes that American citizens had no right to hear what these women had to say and that the law of this country forces us and those who would dare to criticize him to stand silent or be punished, we welcome the opportunity to have a court set him straight.

Please note that I have a PUBLICLY NEUTRAL informal-student-observer role in these posts that I put up about the USA presidential elections. Of course, as I am an Indian citizen living in India, there is no question of me voting in these elections.
