Mike Pence's campaign plane skids off runway; All safe; Political campaigning is risky and only courageous people can do it

The moments Pence’s plane flirted with disaster, http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/mike-pence-plane-skid-runway-230433, 28th Oct. 2016

Ravi: I am so glad to know that all people on USA Republican nominee for vice-president Mike Pence's plane were safe after it skid off the runway while landing at La Guardia airport (in New York city).

Hmm. Political leaders while out campaigning have to take so many risks. This happens in Indian politics too. Those who are in positions of power can use govt. provided transportation and travel in relative safety. [In India, even govt. transportation can be unsafe at times as happened in the tragic case of the fatal crash of the helicopter carrying the late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in Sept. 2009, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y._S._Rajasekhara_Reddy.]

But those that are not in power have to use transportation and other facilities funded by the political campaign! And sometimes they have to cut corners and take risks!

And these risks extend to their staff, USA secret service staff too in this case, as well as journalists, travelling with them.

It does take great courage to be part of a top-level political campaign whether it is USA or India as the risks involved are significant.

Please note that I have a PUBLICLY NEUTRAL informal-student-observer role in these posts that I put up about the USA presidential elections. Of course, as I am an Indian citizen living in India, there is no question of me voting in these elections.
