Jayme Closs' letter to the court/judge shows us how the 13 year old feels about the kidnapper who killed her parents and kidnapped her. READ JAYME CLOSS' STATEMENT BEFORE KIDNAPPER JAKE THOMAS PATTERSON IS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON, https://www.newsweek.com/jayme-closs-abductor-life-prison-without-parole-1435989 , 24th May 2019 "A Wisconsin judge ruled on Friday that the man who admitted to slaying the parents of 13-year-old Jayme Closs before abducting and holding her captive for 88 days will spend the rest of his life serving two life terms in prison without parole, according to the New York Times and Associated Press. " Jayme Closs was kidnapped in October last year (2018). She escaped from her kidnapper Patterson in January this year (2019), and Patterson was arrested soon after. Ravi: Going beyond the horrific tragedy, what is great about this is that the USA justice system has delivered justice to the killer and kidnapper! That not only gives the vict

Top ten political party winners of Indian General Elections 2019, and so expected to be influential in policy making over next 5 years

Note that the total number of Lok Sabha (Parliament) seats is 543. I do not know why elections were not held for the remaining 1 seat. The official Election Commission of India website results page was not working ( http://results.eci.gov.in/ ) when I composed this post. But it worked later on and so I modified the post to reflect its data. So I initially went by NDTV party-wise results page, https://www.ndtv.com/elections/bjp-congress-mahagathbandhan-partywise-results-2019 . I later updated this post with Election Commission of India results as shown around 11:15 AM IST on 24th May 2019. Top ten political parties and seats won in Lok Sabha in 2019 Indian General Election (in descending order of number of seats won or leading) 1) 303 seats (299 won, 4 leads), BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bharatiya_Janata_Party , national political presence, main leader - Narendra Modi, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narendra_Modi . 2) 52 seats (52 won), (Indian

Incumbent PM Narendra Modi led BJP party and associated NDA alliance seem all set to win comfortable majority in Indian General Elections 2019, and enjoy a full five year term. Below pic is captured from NDTV, https://www.ndtv.com/ , a mainstream English Indian news channel, around 7:13 PM today (23rd May 2019). It shows the leads & wins in Lok Sabha (Indian parliament at New Delhi) seats across the country. Best wishes to NDA for serving the people in government. Best wishes to the other parties that will serve in Opposition to do their function of watching over the ruling government (in Parliament in Delhi) and holding them accountable. ---- Graceful acceptance of defeat by Shri Rahul Gandhi, Congress party President: For democratic elections to function properly, it is important for key leaders who lose the election to gracefully accept defeat. As an Indian citizen and resident, I commend Shri Rahul Gandhi for this grace that he is showing and for his support for dem

Am happy to see that Madonna says Michael Jackson is 'innocent until proven guilty'

Madonna says Michael Jackson is 'innocent until proven guilty', https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/madonna-michael-jackson-sexual-abuse-allegations-leaving-neverland-a8903146.html , 7th May 2019 The article quotes Madonna as saying: “I don’t have a lynch-mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty,” ... “I’ve had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true. So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, ‘Can you prove it?'” --- Ravi: I am so glad to see Madonna come out in support of the legal process by which such serious ***criminal*** allegations are assessed as true or not sure whether true or false (or sometimes proven to be false). Now I should also say that I do not have anything against the accusers. I don't know what is the truth. But I am not willing to support a media-kangaroo-court arriving at a judgement that MJ is guilty of ***criminal*** sexual abuse. Like Madonna said,

Education should create people who work for good of others rather than exploit and dominate others

This post is based on my Facebook post, https://www.facebook.com/ravi.s.iyer.7/posts/2481667832049779 dated 6th May 2019, and comment exchanges there. Education can lead to power. If the educated misuse and abuse that power, they can turn out to be great villains who harm many people. If the educated use their power wisely for the good of people, they can turn out to be great benefactors of many people. The early 21st century has shown us that many educated people are mainly concerned about amassing wealth and power for themselves and lording it (dominating) over the less fortunate. This has led to a huge amount of suspicion and distrust of educated people (elites) by the masses in many countries of the world including India. That needs to change to ensure social harmony and cohesiveness. [Shared Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/tsvenu.gopal.3/posts/2176635775776575 had a pic with a quote. I checked the Internet which seems to confirm the quote. “I am a survivor o

When author of post or comment is not mentioned, it should be assumed that it is me (Ravi S. Iyer). https://www.facebook.com/ravi.s.iyer.7/posts/2520982778118284 The brutal reality of power in USA, UK and Indian democracies today is that top people have to face vicious verbal attacks I was shocked to see this verbal attack on the man expected to be PM of UK, Boris Johnson, in the House of Commons from Scottish National Party's leader Ian Blackford. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiE9f8jM4SE , 3 min. 23 secs, published by Guardian News on 19th Jun 2019. In the beginning of this clip, Blackford alleges that Boris Johnson has the view that the Scottish people are --snip-- race who should be placed in ghettos and --snip--, and asks PM Theresa May whether she agrees with Johnson. As expected, May responds by saying that the Conservative and Unionist party welcomes contribution of people of all parts of UK and takes them seriously. But what I am shocked by is the above ho
