Guardian articles covering Turkish PM Erdogan speech on Khashoggi, and very disturbing report about alleged Khashoggi interrogation over Skype

This Guardian article seems to give a good analysis of Turkish PM Erdogan's speech related to Khashoggi killing. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/23/erdogan-keeps-naked-truth-about-khashoggi-under-wraps-for-now, 23rd Oct. 2018.

This Guardian article, CCTV footage appears to show Khashoggi body double in Istanbul, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/22/cctv-footage-appears-to-show-jamal-khashoggi-body-double-in-istanbul, 22nd Oct. 2018, mentions the body double matter which seems to be well established now as the CCTV footage has been shared with the public.

It also mentions some very disturbing things but without evidence and quotes anonymous Turkish intelligence sources. I felt it appropriate to share the relevant few sentences in a slightly edited way in this post:

--- start extract from The Guardian ---

Reports on Monday suggested --name-snipped--, an influential adviser to the crown prince, participated in a Skype call to the room in the consulate where Khashoggi was held.

A Turkish intelligence source told Reuters that at one point --name-snipped-- told his men to dispose of Khashoggi, saying: “Bring me the head of the dog.”

If true, the allegations would confirm reporting in the Guardian on Sunday that Turkey had intercepted the hit squad’s communications. It is understood that Erdoğan has not shared the recording with the US.

Ravi: Most of the above information was also published in a couple of Indian mainstream media outlets once again quoting anonymous Turkish and other intelligence sources, if I recall correctly.

If above reports are true then it is very, very disturbing! However, I should also say that the Middle East has witnessed terrible savagery in the recent past with Iraq and Syria facing the brunt of this savagery. Saudi Arabia would be perceiving itself as under threat from such savage groups. However, the person who was murdered in this case - Jamal Khashoggi - was a journalist whose columns appeared in the Washington Post. He may have been a critic of the Saudi Arabian government but I doubt whether he would have promoted these savage opponents of Saudi Arabian government.

In any case, interrogating and then murdering a journalist in this way (and murdering a journalist in any way) is totally unacceptable for any country that wants to be part of the civilized world in today's early 21st century.

[I thank theguardian.com and have presumed that they will not have any objections to me sharing the above small extract from their website on this post which is freely viewable by all, and does not have any financial profit motive whatsoever.]
