USA 2016 Presidential election: Recount in Wisconsin state; Attempts to have recount in Pennsylvania and Michigan

The above article states that the Clinton campaign will participate in the Wisconsin recount, which has been initiated by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein. Stein is also attempting to have a recount in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Clinton's campaign lawyer Elias said that if Stein succeeds in having a recount in the latter two states, the Clinton campaign would participate in those recounts too.

But Elias also indicated that the possibility of a recount changing the general election for President outcome is low. He said, "We do so fully aware that the number of votes separating Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the closest of these states  — Michigan — well exceeds the largest margin ever overcome in a recount".

The process of initiating a recount involves a lot of money, according to Ms. Jill Stein campaign's recount faq here, http://www.jill2016.com/recountfaq :

Here is a breakdown of state filing fees:

Wisconsin: $1.1 million by Nov 25
Pennsylvania: $0.5 million by Nov 28
Michigan: $0.6 million by Nov 30

Again, those are filing fees alone. Attorney's fees are likely to be another $2-3 million. The total estimated cost is $6-7 million.

The above Washington Post article states that Stein's 2016 campaign for president took in $3.5 million from donors but that as of Thursday, 24th Nov. 2016, the recount effort had raised $3.8 million! That makes the recount effort the largest donation drive for a third party in the USA in history!

A small extract from article: Pennsylvania and Wisconsin End Election Recount Efforts, http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/12/us/pennsylvania-and-wisconsin-end-election-recount-efforts.html, dated Dec. 12th 2016, "Presidential election recount efforts in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin came to an end on Monday, with both states certifying Donald J. Trump as the winner in contests that helped put him over the top in the Electoral College tally."

Michigan's recount was halted on order by a federal judge. So Trump was declared victor in Michigan too.

Thus the recount effort did not change the result of Trump being the winner in these three states neither was there any significant change in the margin of the victory in Wisconsin and in the few counties in Pennsylvania which did a recount.
