Very disturbing news about USA Coast Guard officer planning white nationalist terror attack on politicians and media persons; Great job by FBI and others in stopping him
Warning: This post covers very disturbing white nationalist violence stuff and so readers who prefer not to read such matters should skip reading rest of this post.
Please note that I have a PUBLICLY (POLITICALLY) NEUTRAL informal-student-observer role in these posts that I put up about USA politics. Of course, as I am an Indian citizen living in India, there is no question of me having voted in USA elections. I am a well-wisher of the people of the USA.
I was debating whether I should put up this public post or not. I felt that putting it up would be appropriate as it would be my little contribution on social media to oppose white nationalist terror in the USA and to support law-abiding people in the USA of various skin colours, ethnic background and religion.
In this post, I have omitted mentioning some scary details which may be too much for my readers to handle. But those who want to know about them may please visit the links given below.

The NYT article quotes a letter written by the officer - Lieutenant Christopher Paul Hasson, 49 years old - about him wanting to start a race war and thinking about the best way of doing it!
Another quote from a letter of his: "I am a long time White Nationalist, having been a skinhead 30 plus years ago before my time in the military". [The man has served in the USA Marine Corps from 1988 to 1993, and around 2 years in USA Army National Guard. He joined the USA Coast Guard in 2016.]
Very disturbingly, Hasson seems to have been inspired by the Norwegian far-right extremist and mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik who killed 77 people in 2011, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_Behring_Breivik. Hasson seems to have studied Breivik's 1500 page "manifesto".
I am so disappointed (freaked out would be the right words) that Breivik and his bl@*#% manifesto have been a source of inspiration for a serving USA Coast Guard officer who is a former US Marine.
Besides a big cache of guns and ammunition, the man had stockpiled bottles of Human Growth Hormone, and was abusing a narcotic drug. The combination of drugs and guns was viewed as "a significant concern" by US law enforcement authorities.
Thank God for the FBI and any other USA security services who arrested Hasson before he could do any mad mass murder. May God bless all those USA security service staff who worked to detect the plot and then arrest this dangerous madman.
