Two promotion videos about Xi Jinping combating corruption (from 1988 to 1990 as a city CPC chief) and leading (rural) poverty alleviation efforts (in April 2019 as President)
As I very much appreciate the graciousness showed by Chinese President Xi Jinping (who is the General Secretary i.e. leader, of the Communist Party of China) towards sculpture and cultural events with religious themes during his recent visit to India, I decided to invest some time in viewing up some videos about his work in China. [Readers may want to see my recent post: President Xi Jinping of communist China very graciously appreciates at least artistic aspects of sculpture & cultural events with religious themes on his India visit, https://ravisiyermisc.blogspot.com/2019/10/president-xi-jinping-of-communist-china.html.]
Before I get into these videos, I need to first say that the Chinese people and the Communist Party of China (CPC) have to be congratulated on the extraordinary success they have achieved over the past few decades in lifting hundreds of millions of Chinese citizens out of poverty into the middle class or even rich class.
An extract from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_China is given below:
In China today, poverty refers mainly to the rural poor, as decades of economic growth have largely eradicated urban poverty.[1][2][3] The dramatic progress in reducing poverty over the past three decades in China is well known. According to the World Bank, more than 850 million people have lifted themselves out of extreme poverty as China's poverty rate fell from 88 percent in 1981 to 0.7 percent in 2015, as measured by the percentage of people living on the equivalent of US$1.90 or less per day in 2011 purchasing price parity terms.[4][5]

I am quite sure that this feat achieved by the Chinese government and the Chinese people over the past few decades of having more than 850 million people lifted out or lifting themselves out of extreme poverty, with poverty rate falling from 88 percent in 1981 to 0.7 percent in 2015, must be unmatched in the entire history of the human race!
Now I am a staunch theist (believer in God) and that itself makes it unacceptable for me to accept communist ideology. However, I still appreciate the positive achievements of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people under that party's rule. Perhaps there may be many things India can learn from China, without India giving up belief in God which an overwhelming majority of Indians have.
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irreligion_in_India, "According to 2011 Census of India, 99.76% of Indians identified with a religion while 0.24% did not state their religious identity. Now for some videos which even if they may be kind-of propaganda videos promoting Xi Jinping, do give us some idea about his work:
1) How a younger Xi Jinping tackled corruption, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jsw69fLR5I, around 6 mins, published by CGTN on 29th Jan. 2018.
The video description states, "A trademark of Xi Jinping is his determination to combat corruption with an iron fist, regardless of the status of the perpetrator. As early as 1990 in Ningde, Fujian Province, Xi led a successful drive to end the illegal land occupation."
From around 1 min 8 secs in the video, a retired official (of Ningde, I presume) says, "One month after taking office (as Party chief of CPC Ningde Prefectural committee in 1988), Xi Jinping held a meeting with the local officials. He told them, if you work in government don't think about making money. If you want to be rich, then get your money elsewhere. You can't have both."
2) President Xi inspects poverty alleviation achievements in SW China, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d5CriKhRVA, 12 min. 37 secs, published by CGTN on 22nd April 2019.
The youtube video description states, "Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the rural area in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality over poverty alleviation on April 15. President Xi also visited a primary school and a village in Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County. He talked with local farmers to get firsthand information about what progress has been made in poverty reduction. He also asked them about their living conditions in terms of food, clothing, compulsory education, basic healthcare and housing."
From 3:04 in the video, we see the message, "He (Xi Jinping) has mentioned many times before that promoting education and poverty relief is the fundamental solution to preventing intergenerational transmission of poverty."
From around 9:10 in the video, Xi Jinping speaks to a group of villagers and the, I presume, English traslation of his words are put up on the video. Xi says, "Poverty alleviation is one of the most important things in my heart. Our country is developing rapidly, but we should look back to see if there are people who are leading difficult lives. Development needs common prosperity. The rich and the poor cannot be polarized."
From around 10:25 in the video, we are shown the message, "President Xi has walked around the poor areas in China. He measures the course of the common people getting out of poverty, and improve the quality of their lives with his footsteps, personally commanding and winning this battle against poverty.
Every time he rushes to people with problems. [Ravi: That has to be exaggeration. China is just too huge for him to do that.]
The fight against poverty has stepped into a crucial phase that will determine its victory. This time, he's focusing on solving prominent problems including meeting the basic needs of food and clothing and guaranteeing compulsory education, basic medical care and housing."
From around 12:02 in the video, we are shown the message, 'In thousands of years of Chinese history only the CPC (Communist Party of China) has managed to solve problems including meeting the basic needs of food and clothing and guaranteeing compulsory education, basic medical care and housing. This is an unprecedented big event. "Let the people of all ethnic groups live a good life." This is the biggest aspiration and expectation of President Xi. This is the soulful care and concern of the members of the CPC.'

Ravi: The two videos shared above are propaganda videos but even if half of what they say is true, it is a truly awesome achievement. Hats off to the Chinese people, the Communist Party of China, and its leaders past and present including current General Secretary and President Xi Jinping on these awesome achievements they have made in improving the lives of hundreds of millions of Chinese people.
