Worrying tweet from USA president Donald Trump that might encourage physical attacks on CNN reporters/staff
This tweet of USA president Donald Trump is really worrying: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/881503147168071680, 2nd July 2017. It has a video clip which has Trump appearing to beat up a person whose face is replaced by CNN logo (edited version of older Wrestling mania video).
Here is CNN's Brian Stelter's tweet response having a pic with CNN statement on it, https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/881521068078505985, 2nd July 2017. I have given below the text version of initial part of CNN statement from the pic:
It is a sad day when the President of the United States encourages violence against reporters. Clearly, Sarah Huckabee Sanders lied when she said the President had never done so.
--- end CNN statement ---
Note that Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the Deputy press secretary in the White House.
Here is a video having CNN Brian Stelter's response to Trump's tweet: President Trump Tweets Video of Him Physically ATTACKING, BEATING UP 'CNN' Reporter 7/2/2017, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgSLrj48aXA, 4 min 3 secs.
Here is a Washington Post article about it: Trump appears to promote violence against CNN with tweet, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/07/02/trump-appears-to-promote-violence-against-cnn-with-tweet/
Ravi: I think USA president Trump tweeting out this video is scary. I mean, CNN (and other mainstream media) reporters/staff would be really worried that some supporters of USA president Trump would beat up CNN reporters/staff, after seeing this video from president Trump himself!
I think USA president Trump could use legal process in the USA to challenge CNN. He could also discuss introduction of legislation to prevent false news being used by USA media, including mainstream media, to raise their TV ratings and make money. Those are the proper ways in which Trump could fight false news from mainstream media.
This suggestion of using violence against CNN (reporters) by the most powerful man in the USA (and the world) is NOT a proper way to tackle false news from CNN or any other USA mainstream media outlet.
As a supporter and lover of democracy, I find this tweet of USA president Trump to be very worrying. I hope and pray that things cool down fast in this war between USA president Trump and USA mainstream media.
Please note that I have a PUBLICLY NEUTRAL informal-student-observer role in these posts that I put up about USA politics. Of course, as I am an Indian citizen living in India, there is no question of me having voted in USA elections.
