If something like this happens in a company anywhere in India, the concerned manager would, in all probability, be arrested by the police. And I think that workers' unions and political parties (many political parties are affiliated to some workers' unions) would have made such a hue and cry that the company bosses would have had to publicly apologize and promise never to allow such humiliation of workers/staff to ever happen again!
I thank God that workers' and employee unions in India are a powerful force today (and have been a powerful force throughout my adult lifetime which is from 1980 when I became 18 by which time I had started observing and noting some of these things in Mumbai and surrounding areas where I lived and studied, and in India in general). It is this power of unions in India that prevents such horribly degrading treatment to workers.
It is tragic that such treatment of workers happens in China - it may be rare and exceptional but still it is horrific. No amount of economic growth and prosperity is worth such abuse of workers/employees.
