My comments on a non-public post of somebody else on FB:

What the video showed of the police officer having his knee on Late George Floyd's neck while he was complaining that he could not breathe and which is alleged to have been around 9 minutes, and while 3 other officers did nothing to prevent this, is absolutely horrifying! And this is after the Eric Garner case in New York City got so much coverage.

But one also has to hear the police officers' side of the story. They deserve a fair trial.

Very tragic case and very sad to see outpouring of anger resulting in violence.

I saw the Detroit (Michigan) police head (an African-American) say some strong words about the police officers seen in the video. The Detroit police head went on to talk about trust between community and police officers being the glue that holds things together - something that's been said quite often, but I think it was appropriate to mention it again in this context.

Justice must be delivered in the case, and justice must be seen as being delivered. That's the way trust can be rebuilt between police & community in the community where this tragic death happened.

Enjoyed listening again to the song after quite a while. And I don't think I had seen this live video earlier. It was great to see Roy Orbison perform this song live.

Quite amazing to see how USA media, at times at least, is able to bring out some truths related to ongoing sensitive criminal cases. This case has been referred to, by the father (and perhaps lawyer) of a killed young African-American man, as a modern day lynching of an African-American man in Georgia, USA. It certainly is very, very sad that a young life had to be lost in this manner.

Great to know that quick police action saved many lives in Vizag gas leak. A citizen called up the police by dialing 100 at 3.25 AM. The police control room alerted the appropriate police station. SI (Sub-Inspector, I think) Satyanarayana along with 4 police constables went by vehicle to the concerned village (Venkatapuram).

At 3.35 AM SI Satyanarayana and team reached the village and realized the seriousness of the matter. Fire station and ambulance were informed. Other police officers reached the site.

The article reports that at 3:40 AM, "Police started the evacuation process shifting affected people to safe zone. Proactively the entire 4,500 families living in the vicinity were evacuated. Police barged into houses and woke up sleeping families and shifted them."

Many of the policemen suffered from inhalation of the gas and were hospitalized!

Ravi: Hats off to these policemen for their quick and brave action which seems to have saved many lives in this sad industrial accident.

The preliminary report is that one (or both) of the two storage tanks of styrene had a refrigeration systems failure due to which the temperature of the storage tank exceeded 20 degrees Celsius. Styrene liquid starts evaporating (gassifying) beyond 20 degrees Celsius. As per the preliminary report, that's what happened in the Vizag LG chemical plant and the resultant gas leak was disastrous for villages close to the plant.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy garu conducts a disaster management meeting on Vizag gas leak. Remarkable transparency, even if all that was said in the meeting is not heard. But the key remarks from the collector and from CM himself are clearly audible. It is a mix of English and Telugu with the CM speaking in Telugu.

Video is slightly over 40 mins.

Django 1966 Spaghetti Western movie

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Django_(1966_film):
"The film follows a Union soldier-turned-drifter and his companion, a mixed-race prostitute, who become embroiled in a bitter, destructive feud between a gang of Confederate Red Shirts and a band of Mexican revolutionaries."

It is a very, very violent film but it is considered to be one of the best of the Spaghetti Western genre films.

A rough and brutal film but I think it reflects the reality of the past

Chato's Land, https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x393yoq, 1 hr. 26 mins.

Movie script: https://www.scripts.com/script.php?id=chato%2527s_land_5364

Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chato%27s_Land

An extract from the wiki:
Chato's Land is a 1972 western Technicolor film directed by Michael Winner, starring Charles Bronson and Jack Palance.

In Apache country, the half-native Chato shoots the local sheriff in self-defence, and finds himself hunted by a posse of ex-Confederates, who rape his wife and leave her hogtied in the open as a bait to trap him. Ignoring the bait, Chato uses his superior fieldcraft skills to lure each of the posse to their death.

The film can be classified in the revisionist Western genre, which was at its height at the time, with a dramatising of racism and oblique referencing of the Vietnam war. The original screenplay was written by Gerry Wilson.
