Good to see my Ruia college colleague Chadrakant Pandit be in the news as coach of Ranji Trophy winning Vidarbha cricket team
Vidarbha players learnt and believed themselves, says coach Chandrakant Pandit, http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/vidarbha-players-learnt-and-believed-themselves-says-coach-chandrakant-pandit-5007919/, 2nd Jan. 2018
Chandrakant Pandit, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandrakant_Pandit, studied in Ruia college, Mumbai, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramnarain_Ruia_College, along with Lalchand Rajput (who is also a coach now), during the years I studied in Ruia (1978 to 1983). If I recall correctly, they were in the Arts stream while I was in the Science stream. I recall a few times when I have watched them play in the grounds (Matunga Gymkhana grounds) opposite Ruia (and Podar) colleges (in or close to Hindu colony area of Matunga). I don't think I interacted with them though.
Good to see Pandit in the news for victory of the team he coached. [His team Vidarbha won the Ranji trophy which is the top national trophy for Indian state cricket teams.]
Both Chandrakant Pandit and Lalchand Rajput. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lalchand_Rajput, played some tests and ODIs for India but did not make it big in that arena.

This article has some praise for the role of the coach Chandrakant Pandit in Vidarbha's maiden Ranji trophy victory: Ranji Trophy: ‘We are on seventh heaven,’says Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal, http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/ranji-trophy-we-are-on-seventh-heavensays-vidarbha-skipper-faiz-fazal/article22347465.ece, 1st Jan. 2018.
A small extract from it: "This has been made possible by some tireless work backstage by coach Chandrakant Pandit who knows only too well what it takes to hold the trophy. After all, he has been part of the trophy-winning Mumbai team five times and now for the seventh time, as a coach."
