Hollywood actor-singer Danny Kaye was one of the inspirational figures for Kishore Kumar
In Sunday's The Hindu I read that Danny Kaye was one of the inspirational figures for Kishore Kumar (That eccentric genius named Kishore Kumar would have turned 90 this year, https://www.thehindu.com/entertainment/movies/that-eccentric-genius-named-kishore-kumar-would-have-turned-90-this-year/article29111131.ece). An extract from it: "In Kishore’s home, along with those of K.L. Saigal and Rabindranath Tagore, it was Danny Kaye’s portrait that was prominently displayed. Kaye was the all-American entertainer who dabbled in all departments — acting, singing, comedy and dance — and Kishore took on this role enthusiastically."
I do not recollect hearing of Danny Kaye. I looked up youtube for some song & dance videos of Danny Kaye.
The first video I saw showed me how Kishore Kumar would have got his inspiration for his fun and freaky songs from Danny Kaye!
Here's the video clip from the 1947 movie: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Danny Kaye As The Professor of Music.mpg, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP1J4pObRIE, around 3 mins.
Kaye is just awesome in this fun & freaky mode of singing. Kishore Kumar sang some songs in a similar fun & freaky way in Hindi which were superhits during my youth (late 70s and 80s though some of the songs would have been older).
Hollywood and the American (USA) music industry have produced some really great entertainers, and have contributed immensely to world entertainment over so many decades, with many in India including me for sure, being privileged to enjoy their entertainment. They have also inspired other actors and singers and musicians across the world, including India for sure. Many Indian films in the past (don't know how it is today) heavily "borrowed" from Hollywood hits and American music industry hits. Hats off to Hollywood and the American (USA) music industry!

I just loved this song of Danny Kaye. From the 1958 musical film, Merry Andrew https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merry_Andrew_(film):
Danny Kaye ~ Everything is Tickety Boo, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrJHzpaxMOQ, 2 min. 15 secs.
Danny Kaye is the actor (who sings the song) as well as the singer.
