India's huge solar ambitions could push coal further into shade, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/30/indias-huge-solar-ambitions-could-push-coal-further-into-shade, 30th June 2018

Ravi: This is really heartening to note, coming from a UK newspaper. I do recall that some years earlier perhaps around 2012 as I was catching up with world events and issues after Sathya Sai bodily passing away in April 2011, I saw that global warming/climate change was being flagged as the big, big danger to the entire world. And in that scenario, India's industrial and societal growth and its plan to use more coal for the electric power needed by that growth was viewed as a major major threat to the world's efforts to combat global warming/climate change. I felt quite bad about that. Indian government was talking about 'clean coal' but mainstream media articles, especially from USA, were not so positive about supposedly clean 'clean coal' and argued for NO coal instead of clean coal.

And now in June 2018 when the USA has pulled away from the world's efforts to combat climate change, it is so refreshing to know that solar and wind power industry is providing much cheaper energy which has made India switch to solar and wind as a key source for its growing energy needs!

Good to hear this positive news on the vital issue of climate change.

An evergreen song by the great Kishore Kumar, AA CHAL KE TUJHE MAIN LEKE CHALOON-KISHORE, KISHORE AND KISHORE ! (DOOR GAGAN KI CHHAON MEIN (1964), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf5rQ8t5ngU, around 5 mins. I have heard the song countless times but this was the first time I saw the associated film video clip. The singer himself is the actor singing it in the clip. The associated movie was released in 1964, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Door_Gagan_Ki_Chhaon_Mein.

Very sad to read this detailed account. I had read some articles on similar lines earlier but they were not so detailed. Tragic to see an entire country (even if it is a small country like Sri Lanka) get into a debt trap with another country - China. I mean, it would have been better if the debt trap was with a world lending agency like IMF or World Bank as they have some level of transparency and accountability.

And, of course, as Sri Lanka is very close to India and is India's southern neighbour, with China - India relations getting rocky at times, it is not a happy thing to know that Sri Lanka has got into China's control in this fashion. Sad!

Debt is a very big danger in today's world, at personal level, company level and even at country level!

Some TP (Time-Pass); Famous clip of Gabbar Singh villain character role from Hindi yesteryears (1975) blockbuster movie Sholay, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sholay

The most memorable film character role in my entire movie watching days so far, has been Amjad Khan playing the dacoit villain role of Gabbar Singh. [BTW my first blog was named gabbarsing.blogspot.com (or something like that) with my few technical posts being made on pseudonym of Gabbar. Here's the earliest post, http://ravisiyermisc.blogspot.com/2007/08/ made in 2007 (which says it was posted by Gabbar :-) ). I later renamed the blog ravisiyermisc.blogspot.com and started posting on it under my real name.]

Here's one of Gabbar Singh's most famous Sholay movie clips, which, if I recall correctly, is his entry into the movie. The dialogues are in Hindi. Sholay movie best dialogues Kitne Aadmi Thay, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omsHVKflhW8, 5 min. 42 secs.

The maniacal fury of the dacoit villain Gabbar Singh is portrayed brilliantly in this clip. The character evokes the terror that these dacoit villains had over the territory they controlled. This would be somewhat like villainous characters in Wild West movies of Hollywood.

Some of the words in this dialogue became so famous that they are still quite well known in Hindi filmworld.
