USA Missouri state senator Chappelle-Nadal publicly apologizes to President Trump and family, after being inspired by Christian scripture
MO Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal Issues TEARFUL Apology To President Trump(VIDEO)!, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvtLKW77pZw, 3 min. 7 secs, published on 21st Aug. 2017.
Chappelle-Nadal talks about a (church) service she attended which seems to have helped her make the decision to publicly apologize to USA President Trump for her earlier deleted comments where she had "hoped" that Trump would be assassinated. Earlier she had acknowledged that she had made a mistake but tied her possible apology to President Trump to an apology from him for his Charlottesville remarks. But today she has apologized publicly. Here are her words from the above video:
This morning I attended a wonderful service here at (Wellspring). And the title of the sermon was 'I stand accused'. And I do. Rightfully. Because I made a mistake. And you know what I am reminded of - that we are all human. And I am also a child of God as well as every single person standing behind me.
The message that has been sent to me by our God is that I am here to serve as a teacher, as a translator, but most of all as a servant. I am a servant of God. And I am a servant of the people that I represent. And I failed them both recently. I failed them both.
But I am reminded of the kindness that has been afforded me and so many others that have made mistakes in their lives. One of the scriptures that (were) talked about this morning was John 7, verses 53 to Chapter 8, verse 1. (I am) reminded about that. We are all human beings. And none of us are perfect.
I want to make this apology to our president and his family. President Trump - I apologize to you and your family. I also apologize to all of the people in Missouri. And I also apologize to my colleagues in Missouri legislature for the mistake that I made.
I will continue to fight for issues that are really, really important. And talking about being a translator and teacher - something that comes out is an issue that I care about so much, which is radioactive waste. That is the calling that God gave me. That is the gift that God gave me. God chooses people for different things, to send different messages. And I made a mistake and I am owning up to it. And I am not ever going to make a mistake like that again and I have learned my lesson. My judge and my jury is my Lord, Jesus Christ.

Ravi: I am so heartened to see this video apology of Chappelle-Nadal to USA President Trump. I think her apology was unstinted and sincere, and seems to have been prompted by Christian scripture and her faith in Lord Jesus Christ. I personally would have been happier if she had also asked for forgiveness from President Trump and his family as it has been my personal experience with mistakes that I have made in the past that the explicit seeking of forgiveness acts as a great spiritual balm on both the person(s) who were wronged and the person(s) committing the wrong.
But that is a spiritual forgiveness and spiritual healing nuance. Chappelle-Nadal has apologized graciously and sincerely to President Trump and promised to never repeat such a mistake again. That meets the decent behaviour standard, in my considered opinion. I am so glad that Chappelle-Nadal, a representative of the state of Missouri, did that.
Now I think it is up to President Trump to consider her video apology where she apologized directly to him and family, and perhaps issue a statement from his side. Whether he should forgive or not is up to him and his family, but I do think that he should make a public statement accepting the senator's public apology, unless he has solid information leading to him viewing the apology as insincere.
I pray to Almighty God to shower His Grace on Missouri senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal for her humble act of public apology for the mistake she committed, and pray that Lord Jesus Christ continues to guide her, who views herself as His servant, in her life.
In her reference above to Christian scripture, I think state Sen. Chappelle-Nadal meant John chapter 7, verse 53 to chapter 8, verse 11 (and not verse 1 as she said), which are about the famous incident where a woman accused of adultery is brought before Jesus, and asked if she should be stoned (as per law of Moses). Jesus famously says, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." None of those who were accusing her were without sin and so they all left! Jesus then advises the woman to go and not sin any more.
Given below are those verses from King James Version of the Bible, https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+7%3A53-8%3A11&version=KJV :
John 7:53-8:11 King James Version (KJV)
53 And every man went unto his own house.
[Chapter 8: Verse 1] Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
