Great to know that the lift off proceeded well. Prayers and best wishes for the rest of the mission including the vital part of landing an unmanned rover on the moon.

Given the atmosphere of celebration of successful launch of India's Chandrayaan-2 moon mission today, I thought of sharing where India was with respect to the moon from my humble individual perspective, in my teenage years. Then, the moon was famous in Bollywood (Hindi film) romantic songs :-). Here's one of such songs from the film Devta released in 1978 (I was 16 years old then) which was quite a hit then. Chand Churake Laya Hoon (English meaning: I have stolen the moon and brought it (here for you)) - Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Devta Song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs4lWVCEb0A, 4 min. 15 secs. The actors are Sanjeev Kumar and Shabana Azmi. In this song, they have to do the silly stuff to play to the gallery. But these two actors have/had (Sanjeev Kumar is no more) great acting skills which they have shown in many Hindi films, and which I have been privileged to watch and enjoy.

Just goes to show what awesome strides India has made in technology from the 1970s to the 2010s now. Honestly, in my teenage years, I don't think I would have believed that India would successfully send unmanned missions to Mars and the moon in the 2000s and 2010s [India's first (unmanned) mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-1, was a lunar probe that impacted the moon on 14th Nov. 2008; Mangalyaan, India's first Mars (unmanned) mission, is a Mars orbiter mission that got placed in Mars orbit in September 2014].

Interesting! Some Australians seem to have spotted Chandrayaan-2 on its way up. But it was night in Australia and so the sighting looks very different from how the lift off looked in India (at daytime in India).
