A hit song over decades. Mohd. Rafi sahab sings the male voice part of the song as only he can!

The female actor role is played by Saira Banu - her debut film.

Wow! Imran Khan ex Pakistani cricket captain and fast bowler (all rounder actually), seems to be in the running for Pakistan Prime Minster post! Like so many Indians of my generation I have watched Imran Khan in action in cricket so many times (on TV/video typically). He surely has to be viewed as one of the top cricketers of the world in those times. Hmm.

Let's hope this brings peace between India and Pakistan, especially on the border and in Kashmir.

Horrifying state of affairs with very negative consequences for society down the line. I mean, once a person becomes a medical doctor with a big debt of tens of lakhs of Rupees hanging over his/her head, he/she will be more focused on making maximum money from patients rather than worrying about best and economical medical care for them.

Geeta Dutt was a famous oldie Hindi film singer but died early (in 1972). She has lived on for many decades since through her songs. Here's one of her hit songs which lived on well into the 80s and 90s when I have heard it quite a few times: Ai Dil Mujhe Bata De from a 1956 Hindi film. 4 min. 18 secs - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKcaNydkNMg

Close to 8 minutes. Quite fascinating to see New York City in 1911. "1911 - A Trip Through New York City (speed corrected w/ added sound)", https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aohXOpKtns0. From the youtube video description, "This film was taken by the Swedish company Svenska Biografteatern on a trip to America"

Oldie Hindi film hit song capturing the sorrow and anger (and curse) of a betrayed and jilted lover (male). Sung by the great Kishore Kumar. Around 4 mins.

The male says, "Jaise birha ki ruth maine kaati tadapke aahe bhar bhar ke" which I loosely translate to - Like I had to struggle to pass the period of separation when I floundered and struggled sighing again and again.

The male then curses the female, "Jale man tera bhi kisi ke milan ko Anamika tu bhi tarse". Loose English translation - May your heart/mind too burn for union with somebody; Anamika (name of the lady), may you too pine (grieve) (for companionship of your mate).

Usually, one reads curses in this regard, the other way around. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned (and all that)!

But I guess the reality is that at least some males too would curse on being betrayed and jilted in love. In India one has to fear curses of righteous people. Like many Indians I too strongly believe that such curses from righteous people who have been grievously wronged, have power.

But though the words of the song are quite harsh, the song has a pleasant tune and so was quite popular in its time. I enjoyed hearing it again after many years.

Full video of the historic Under 20 Women's gold at a world track event for an Indian - Hima Das.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7lGC4w4A48, 8 min 30 secs

Hearty congratulations to Hima Das for running a fantastic race and not panicking when others had surged ahead in the initial 300m of the run. She just turned on the juice in the last 100m, caught up with the leaders and then broke away from them! What a run!

It was also very nice to see the top three in the race - Andrea Miklos of Romania was 2nd and Taylor Manson of USA was 3rd - embrace each other at the end of the race. That's the spirit.

The event was held in Tampere, Finland.

Hima Das seemed so confident of herself! Great to see such an Indian youth emerge. Best wishes for her to repeat these feats in the regular woman's track events in future.

And I have to say I liked her prayer gesture at the beginning of the run and her Namaskar to the camera. She is said to be from the rice fields of Assam! Great to see the North East of India make such a notable contribution to Indian athletic field.

1964 Hindi film romantic oldie goldie song, Sangam - Ye Mera Prem Patra Padhkar Ke Tum - Mohd Rafi, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuaFmVz3dr8, 7 min 37 secs. The song audio starts only at around 2 minutes 30 seconds into the video.

Had heard the song so many times over the years. But had not seen the video. Enjoyed seeing the video and, of course, greatly enjoyed the great Mohammed Rafi singing the famous song.

A comment I made on the above post (slightly edited):
--Name-snipped--, I like to hear the songs and see the videos as good relaxation from some other posts that I write which deal with human suffering and some unfortunate evil and bad that exists in our world.

I am NOT into reading books on Hindi films as my book reading time is taken up by other topics which have greater interest for me.

But thanks for letting me know.

Wonderful to know that all 12 Thai boys and their coach were rescued: https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/09/asia/thai-cave-rescue-mission-intl/index.html

Congratulations to all involved.

One must not forget the sacrifice of one person of the rescue team who had lost his life in this rescue effort a few days ago. May God shower His Grace on him and give strength and courage to his family and friends to bear the loss.

And this is an even more famous song, a romantic one, from the same oldie (1956) Hindi film, Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum with Lyrics - Raj Kapoor | Nargis | Chori Chori Hindi Song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dr6ujOgdVI, around 4 mins.

Have heard this song umpteen times over the radio in my youth but I don't think I had seen the picturisation of it. Thanks to youtube for this one.

This has the superstars of that period - Raj Kapoor and Nargis.

And I think both the earlier song video I posted of this film (https://www.facebook.com/ravi.s.iyer.7/posts/2207538042796094) and this one, seem to have originally been black-and-white, with colour being added some decades later.

A Hindi film oldie song I have heard so many times and enjoyed over radio in my youth though the associated movie was released in 1956, 6 years before I was born! Just shows how this song's words, singing and music stood the test of decades of time in Hindi speaking parts of India.

The voice is that of the great Lata Mangeshkar. It is a very youthful voice.

I don't recall seeing the picturisation of this song earlier. Thanks to Facebook I have been able to see it. Nargis, a well known heroine in Hindi films but well before my Hindi film watching days, does the lead role in this picturisation quite well as do the other dancers. Note that this film was released less than a decade after India attained independence. So I think the song and the picturisation is even more praise-worthy.

Enjoyed it! Reminds me of the many, many times I have walked or travelled in vehicles on these roads but in days when BEST buses had replaced trams. I have never traveled in a tram in Mumbai (but have done so in Europe). So I was quite fascinated with this video. 1 min. 18 secs video duration.
