The bigger and more powerful Nuclear Button tweet of USA President Trump seems to publicly define the biggest factor in today's fast-changing world power equations

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!", https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/948355557022420992, 2nd Jan. 2018.

The statement of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un referred in above tweet, is given in this article: Kim Jong Un highlights his ‘nuclear button,’ offers Olympic talks, https://www.nbcnews.com/news/north-korea/kim-says-north-korea-s-nuclear-weapons-will-prevent-war-n833781, 2nd Jan. 2018.

It quotes Kim Jong Un from his annual address delivered on 1st Jan 2018 as saying, "The entire United States is within range of our nuclear weapons, a nuclear button is always on my desk. This is reality, not a threat".."This year, we should focus on mass-producing nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles for operational deployment. These weapons will be used only if our society is threatened."

Ravi: Hmm. A couple of years ago, say on New Year's Day 2016, imagining that such nuclear button related threat statements would be exchanged between the young, perhaps early 30s, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and the most powerful man on planet earth, the President of the USA who is the Commander-in-Chief of the USA armed forces which is the most powerful military force the world has ever seen, would have been strictly in the realm of improbable fiction, at least for an overwhelming majority of people in the world. It would have been unthinkable for most people in the world including me to consider that this is the reality the world would be dealing with in just two years time!

But that's where we are today at the beginning of the year 2018! History teaches us that military power is what ultimately decides power equations. That certainly was the case in the 20th century with the second world war, the most destructive war of all history which is said to have claimed 60 million lives, which decided the power equations for most of the post-world war II period (post 1945) of the 20th century.

Now in 2018, in early 21st century, we are witnessing a fast-changing world power equations scenario which, at least to some extent, has been precipitated by Mr. Donald J. Trump becoming President of the USA in January 2017. Military power is coming to the fore as the means of resolving international disputes, moving away from the ideals of a just world order that fora like the United Nations attempted to bring.

I earnestly pray to God that the dangerous nuclear standoff between USA and North Korea gets resolved peacefully without any Nuclear Buttons, big or small, referred in above statements of the leaders of the two countries, being used.
