Ravi: My comment on the above is as follows:
I agree with the view of USA President Trump that, in our times today, "economic security is national security". In this early 21st century globally integrated world, a heavily in debt nation with an unfavourable balance of trade with other nations is jeopardizing not only its economic security but also its national security. Even 20th century history tells us that nations or regimes that are heavily in debt and have an unfavourable balance of trade with other nations, tend to get into violent internal strife or sometimes even wars with other nations.
