Perhaps unprecedented menacing language exchanged between USA and North Korea leaders using United Nations General Assembly podium

Last updated on 29th Sept. 2017

In my adult lifetime (from 1980 onwards), I don't think I have ever heard such menacing language from leaders of countries who are essentially threatening each other with very destructive war, probably nuclear war, spoken from the United Nations General Assembly podium!

Terrifying state of affairs!

The article,
'They Won't Be Around Much Longer': Trump's Fresh Threat To North Korea, https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/mentally-deranged-north-korea-foreign-minister-unleashes-tirade-against-trump-1754338, details the North Korean foreign minister's words spoken from UNGA podium which is in response to USA President Trump's threat to "totally destroy" North Korea, uttered from the same UNGA podium a few days ago.

A few small extracts from the article (not in the order in which it appears in the article):

Ri Yong-ho told the General Assembly that Trump's vow to "totally destroy" his country if necessary had made "our rockets' visit to the entire US mainland all the more inevitable."
...
North Korea will take "preemptive action" if the United States and its allies attempt to carry out a "decapitating operation on our headquarters or military attack against our country," he said.

Declaring that the missile and nuclear tests were a source of "prestige" for his country, Ri said sanctions would not succeed in forcing his government to change course.
...
Trump later responded on Twitter, insulting Kim once more and appearing to threaten both men.

"Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer!" he wrote late Saturday night.
--- end small extracts from article ---

Ravi: Now I don't want to say anything about who is right and who is wrong on this matter. My concern is the imminent danger of outbreak of war, perhaps nuclear war, with huge suffering including loss of many lives, between USA and its ally South Korea on one side and North Korea on the other.

I don't think such strong language, insults rather, by top leaders of either country uttered against each other, can help resolve the matter peacefully. The reality is that, many times, such strong language by leaders is a precursor to war.

I pray to Almighty God to calm the heated verbal exchange atmosphere between these leaders and protect the world from an outbreak of nuclear war, however short it might be.

Well, they (Mr. Donald Trump and Mr. Kim Jong-Un) command significant military power in one case, and huuuuuge military power in the other case. I respect their power to order horrific level of destruction. BTW I have lived in Seoul, South Korea for a couple of months and have good feelings about people there. That city would surely be in the cross-hairs of N. Korea weapons of various destructive abilities. So I am very disturbed by this. I mean, this is really, really scary.
