USA Republicans current Healthcare bill collapse reported in mainstream Indian newspaper (reprint of Reuters article)

This Reuters article got reproduced in a mainstream Indian newspaper, The Times of India, U.S. Republicans divided after second healthcare bill collapses, http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/international-business/u-s-republicans-divided-after-second-healthcare-bill-collapses/articleshow/59643856.cms, 18th July 2017. Here's the original Reuters article: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-healthcare-idUSKBN1A228B.

The article details how the announcement late on Monday 17-Jul-2017 night, of two more Republican senators, Mike Lee (Utah) and Jerry Moran (Kansas), to oppose the bill, in addition to the two Republican senators Susan Collins (Maine) and Rand Paul (Kentucky) who had announced their opposition earlier, and a "solid wall" of opposition from Democratic senators put Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Kentucky) in a position where he could not have enough votes to pass the bill in the Senate. [Ravi: The Senate has 100 members with the Vice-president having an additional vote to break a tie. Republican senators number 52 in the Senate now. Support of only upto 48 Republican senators (some among these 48 Republican senators seem to have had 'concerns' about the bill and so could not be viewed as sure votes) seems to have left McConnell with no choice but to give up.]

McConnell said in his statement, "Regretfully, it is now apparent that the effort to repeal and immediately replace the failure of Obamacare will not be successful".

USA president Trump said on Facebook, "Republicans should just REPEAL failing ObamaCare now & work on a new Healthcare Plan that will start from a clean slate. Dems will join in!", https://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump/photos/a.10156483516640725.1073741830.153080620724/10159510153840725/. [Ravi: It has to be seen whether a serious effort will now be made by Republicans to only repeal ObamaCare now, and what exactly such a proposal would mean for Healthcare coverage in the USA.]

The article reports veteran USA lawmaker, Arizona Republican Senator John McCain's statement, "The Congress must now return to regular order, hold hearings, receive input from members of both parties" (and work for something that) "finally provides Americans with access to quality and affordable health care".

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (Democrat - New York) is reported as having said in his statement, (Republicans should) "start from scratch and work with Democrats on a bill that lowers premiums, provides long-term stability to the markets and improves our health care system."

Here is Senator Bernie Sanders' (Independent from Vermont who works with Democrats in the Senate) statement on Facebook:
"The Republican health care bill is the most dangerous piece of legislation in the modern history of our country. It would throw 22 million Americans off of health insurance, cut Medicaid by $800 billion, substantially raise premiums for older workers, defund Planned Parenthood and make it very difficult for those with pre-existing conditions to get affordable health insurance. The recent announcement that the Republicans do not have the votes to go forward on this disastrous legislation is a great victory for the millions of Americans who stood up and fought back, and I congratulate all of them for their hard work. In this country we should not be throwing millions off of health insurance. We should be guaranteeing health care for all as a right." Please note that I have a PUBLICLY NEUTRAL informal-student-observer role in these posts that I put up about USA politics. Of course, as I am an Indian citizen living in India, there is no question of me having voted in USA elections.

[I thank reuters.com and have presumed that they will not have any objections to me referencing the above article from their website for quotes of USA elected representatives, on this post which is freely viewable by all, and does not have any financial profit motive whatsoever.]
